The San Diego F-150

Vehicle: 2013 Ford F-150 · San Diego, CA

Andy is an auto mechanic who has spent 28 years keeping other people’s vehicles running. His own truck? It hadn’t been detailed since it rolled off the lot new. Regular quick washes — the kind with spinning brushes and recycled water — were the only maintenance it had ever seen. The result was predictable: paint covered in heavy wash marks, swirls, and zero gloss remaining. The interior was a different challenge entirely.

This job required 1.5 days to complete properly. The interior alone — grease, grime, dirt, and dog hair embedded into every surface from 28 years of daily mechanic work — required a full reconditioning, not a standard clean. Every interior surface was addressed. The exterior got the full treatment: decontamination wash, clay towel and iron decontamination, 2-step paint correction using medium then fine compound across the entire truck, followed by a 3-4 year Gtechniq ceramic coating.

When Andy came out to inspect it, he said: “Oh my God, it looks completely different.” He’s now on the monthly maintenance route — the truck that went 28 years without a proper detail is now looked after every month.
